Who We Are
The M. Jackson Group consists of Registered Psychologists, Clinical Associates, and support staff specializing in vocational rehabilitation services for clients with barriers to employment, and other career-related services. We work with clients sent to us by a range of referral sources, including the Provincial Employment Programme for People with Disabilities (EPPD) program, federally-funded vocational programs, the Public Service Commission, other Federal and Provincial Government agencies, WorkSafeBC, ICBC, insurance companies, mental health teams, physicians, psychiatrists, industry, the courts, and self-referral.

Dr. Sara ComishSara is a Registered Psychologist and has a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She has worked with people with disabilities for over 20 years. Her counselling style is compassionate and caring while remaining focussed and practical. |

Germana Mota, B.A.Germana completed her studies at the University of Coimbra at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences in Portugal. An internship at the Mental Health Law and Policy Institute at Simon Fraser University brought her to Canada in 2001. She has been working for the M. Jackson Group Inc. since 2008 as a psychometrist. She has interests in counselling psychology and developmental disabilities. |
Helen Lam, B.A. PsycHelen joins the M. Jackson Group as their Office Manager. She enjoys working with staff and clients to create a friendly and professional working environment. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and has obtained her Human Resources Management Diploma from BCIT. Her interests lie in Industrial Psychology and Organizational Management. |

Dr. Brian GradyDr. Brian Grady obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1994, and he has twelve years experience working in chronic pain rehabilitation, with a focus on improving function and work return. He has worked in university counselling, pain clinic, hospital, and private practice settings. Approximately 70% of his practice is psychotherapy and rehabilitation counselling for a variety of disorders, and 30% is assessment of disability and vocational issues. Dr. Martin ZakrzewskiDr. Martin Zakrzewski completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. His internship training at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington, Vermont focused on Neuropsychology, medical psychology, and rehabilitation psychology. He went on to complete a two-year postdoctoral Neuropsychology fellowship in the Neuropsychiatry Program at Riverview Hospital in 2002. Following completion of this training, he became the staff psychologist for the Neuropsychiatry Program. His work has focused on neuropsychological evaluations, treatment planning, and behaviour management interventions for the patients in Neuropsychiatry, as well as clinical research, supervision, and teaching. He currently provides neuropsychological assessment and screening services, behavioral management consultation, and clinical intervention for both Neuropsychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry programs at Riverview Hospital and has been working with the M. Jackson Group since April of 2006, providing neuropsychological, psychological, and vocational assessments. Particular areas of interest include brain injury, dementia, differential diagnosis, and psychometrics. |

Dr. David AboussafyDr. David Aboussafy is a Registered Psychologist who earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from McGill University, Montreal, and completed a Clinical Psychology Internship at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. He has also completed Postdoctoral Fellowships at Vancouver General Hospital and at UBC Medicine. He has worked as a full time Psychology Advisor for the Work Safe B.C. and has received specialized training in chronic pain evaluation and assessment of psychological functional impairment. Dr. Aboussafy also earned an Honors Psychology degree from Simon Fraser University, where he earned the CPBC Gold Medal for top graduate in Psychology in 1993. Dr. Aboussafy was a Clinical Coordinator at UBC for two years, and has served on the board of the BC Psychological Association and as Chair of the Health Section of the Canadian Psychological Association. Dr. Aboussafy has also worked as a patient outcomes research manager and senior psychometrician for an international health research consultancy. He has developed treatment programs for Health Canada, the B.C. Ministry of Health and Vancouver Coastal Health. He has recently co-authored a Health Canada Best Practice report as well as numerous peer reviewed articles, abstracts, presentations and workshops in the areas of clinical psychology (for example on risk assessment and motivational interviewing) and behavioural medicine (for example designing, implementing and evaluating a number of treatment programs for smoking cessation, and in areas such chronic disease self-management). Dr. Aboussafy has also recently become a Certified Substance Abuse Expert (C-SAE, 2006). He provides psychological vocational and learning disability/vocational assessments for the M. Jackson Group. |

Dr. Wendy ThorntonDr. Wendy Loken Thornton completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology in 1995. She subsequently completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she obtained additional specialization in Neuropsychology. Dr. Thornton was a Senior Psychologist in the Geriatric Division at Riverview Hospital from 1997-2001. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Simon Fraser University, and is a faculty member of the Graduate training program in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Thornton’s research involves developing a better understanding of positive and negative modifiers of healthy aging. She is interested in how health in mid- and late-life predicts how we age. She is also interested in understanding how older and younger adults differ in their approach to making decisions, particularly regarding their health care. |

Dr. Timothy CrowellTim Crowell is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a specialty in Neuropsychology. He is licensed in British Columbia, Washington, and Connecticut. He is a Professional Member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, He holds a Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) and is a Registrant with the National Register of Health Care Providers in Psychology. He obtained his doctoral degree in 1999 from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology. His internship and two year residency in Clinical Neuropsychology were completed at Tampa Bay Florida VA medical centers. He has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine at the University of South Florida and as the Associate Director of the Roskamp Institute Memory Clinic in Tampa, Florida. He is currently responsible for Neuropsychology Services at Richmond General Hospital and Burnaby General Hospital and is a Clinical Associate Professor at Simon Fraser University. He has been the Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator on seven clinical trials sponsored by the National Institute of Health and pharmaceutical companies. He has more than 10 peer reviewed scientific publications and over 15 research presentations at scientific meetings. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology (ABPN). |

Dr. Noah SilverbergDr. Noah Silverberg completed his Ph.D. at the University of Windsor, having trained at several hospitals and clinics including the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital, University of British Columbia Hospital, and St. Paul’s Hospital. He is a Registrant of the College of Psychologists of B.C., with a practice in clinical neuropsychology. Since 2007, Dr. Silverberg has been a staff psychologist at G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre. As part of an interdisciplinary team, he provides assessment, consultation, and intervention services for clients with acquired brain injuries and other medical conditions. He is also involved in teaching and research, supported by an appointment with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. As a consultant with the M. Jackson Group, he provides neuropsychological, psychological, and vocational assessments. |

Lily Cho, B.A.Lily graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Her aspiration is to become a psychologist one day. Areas of interest include forensic and health psychology. |

Theresa Kong, B.A.Theresa is the office assistant of The M. Jackson Group. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at UBC. Her interests lie in developmental and personality/social psychology, and cultural anthropology. |
